So… This race was somethin… A 100k circuit race with 3 climbs every 12k. Saw some of the craziest bike riding i’ve ever seen in my life. After I got canned and made it back to the camper this guy came over to say hi. Only slightly drunk, he was lookin for anything from the team we wanted to give; bottles, hats, jerseys, first born son…all good….we couldn’t understand much anyways, probably even if we did speak portugese. Capped off the week with a good laugh regardless. Now we’re off to Lisbon for a night before heading back to girona tomorrow morning.

No, he’s not pictured. This guy was a photostalker just too damn choice to not post up here after a long absence from uploading ps files.

Agostinho was a famous portugese rider now imortalized by statues all around this town, and with the race we’re doing in his honor. Crazy racing here in the wild west btw. We got a good laugh when one of our guys got the random slot for medical today… Make sure you don’t catch anybody:).

Yesterday was the prologue, ending with a good little schstick up to the finish. A ton of dudes you’ve never heard of hauled ass up that thing like they were racing for a oft discussed but never actually tasted chocolate chip cookie. Teammates were first and second, maybe they shared. Today ended in a bunch kick with a burly crash 150 meters out. 15 guys probably touched down, bikes everywhere, and a whole handful of brake for most of the rest. I was one of the first to make it through and pulled unlucky 13 on the line. Good stuff. Tomorrow has a nice climb mid race and finishes up a beast of a hill, between 10 and 15% for 6k. Hmm. It’ll be fun to watch the assisted pyrotechnics from behind.

Awesome training however and after a month away from racing it’s great to get going again for the second half of the season. This next block for me is largely built as prep for the nationals and couldn’t be much better looking towards that goal.

…was cramped; very cramped. Don’t think i’ve ever done a transatlantic with so little room - Go lufthansa. At least the Munich airport is stocked with some slick cars to ogle over and free coffee machines in the lounge area. The new M5 wagon by the way…slick. The S5 couple from Audi doesn’t suck either - hadn’t seen that one yet.

A few more hours here and then down to Barcelona. Ready to be there for sure!
