Life August 12th, 2007Forgot to post this up when it first went on the web. Probably a bit late, but better late than never I guess.
Portugal is truckin’ along. I’m finally feeling back to normal and by the end of this week should be bandage free, save a wad of non-stick over that elbow hole. Racing here has been straight-up silly, but there’s no better training than clinging to the wheel ahead for 4000kjs a day and I couldn’t ask for better prep for USPROs. 3 stages left before heading back stateside and a brief layover in Chicago for the Pro Crit Champtionships before getting home. So close yet so damn far away.
Far more important than any bike racing BS however, a big congrats goes out to Ryan and Kat Guay on the birth of their daughter Claudia!

Will,
Re: that last post which seems to have been taken down… Isn’t there some recourse you have after the stage finish? …through your DS or something? Rather than feel like you’re part of the ‘code of silence’ that people occasionally mention in editorials or whatever. Anyways, just a thought, after reading your shocking post.

Yes Frischy, I was wondering the same thing, and also as to the reason that you took that post down in the first place?

Hi Will. Thanks for writing (and riding)! There are millions of us fans out here who have been disappointed by the doping scandals but will never leave the sport. Do not fear and please NEVER let the current state of affairs let you for a second feel embarrassed that you are a pro cyclist.
I love the description of your day and the places you’ve been. I’m a stagehand and travel with a theatrical show. My life’s schedule is very similar and I’ve worked in all 50 states and 13 countries but mostly just know the hotels and theaters. I travel with my fixed-gear bike and on a good week get to ride 4 short rides. Sometimes though, that’s enough for an old fart like me as I find myself in Greenville climbing Paris Mountain like a moron knowing that smart people have gears. The fixie though is easy to travel and makes my work outs more time economical.
My vacations seem like a cross between my regular schedule and yours: follow every stage of Tour de Georgia or Tour of California in a camper…. I’ve enjoyed watching you ride and now that I’ve found your website, will enjoy watching you write as well. I hope JV has signed you on for next year. I’m so excited for the team. With Disco and Unibet out, is it possible to move up the schedule and try for a Pro Tour spot next year??? I also can’t wait to see the new bolder argyle kits!
thanks for what you do,
sam from Savannah
