After a week away from the bike with some some serious time working in the yard and getting settled at home today was time to get the body going again - what better way than a cross race. Nothing like racing cross on a 28lb dual suspension mountain bike:) How’d it go? I was slaughtered. Not that I expected anything different, but man did it hurt. With Chihuahua coming up in 2 weeks cross is about the only way I’m going to get in any intensity right now and fortunately Colorado has an awesome local scene. A killer group ride leaves from just a couple of minutes from home on Wednesday mornings and with 2 races this coming weekend within 20 minutes it couldn’t get much better…or worse:) Despite the pain, I forgot how much fun cross can be. Every fall I end up doing a couple of these and it’s a great change of pace. Everybody is relaxed and out for a good time, courses are spectator friendly and knowing that you only have to suffer for an hour makes the racing part of it actually doable. Would I have said that 10 minutes after the race when all I wanted to do was lie in the grass and die? err…probably not…but 4 hours later with a solid dinner down the hatch it’s all good.

Oh yeah - Tom slaughtered Daimo in the Slipstream Mechanic Competition, but Daimo was far more imposing in an argyle skinsuit so after event number 1 it’s all tied up.
