VN.com Journal: Blatant Generalities
Life March 20th, 2008Here for the link. Also, if you haven’t checked out the Slipstream Sports website any time recently we’ve actually become a modern team and have a full time web person that keeps it chock-full with content. We’re all writing updates from races, news articles are all linked, and there are some great photos. In the past I’d always told people the easiest way to keep track of what we were up to was to check cyclingnews and velonews…now there’s something even better, at least if you want to read a bunch of highly biased and self-promoting, yet pretty entertaining stuff.

Will, thanks for writing. and riding. You really are good at it. Now your team has two of my other favorite rider/writers: Dave Z and Christian VV. Good luck on Saturday. I know you’re going to be working your ass off. 298 kilometers!!! Who the hell thinks this is a good idea???
Wish you were going to be at the Tour de Georgia, oh well.

Will,
It’s a good site. Not too cluttered or over-flashed.
Just read on velonews… you guys got the TOUR! That’s fantastic. Congrats to all on Slipstream! Go argyle!

Hey Will,
Great job on the strong ride at Milan-San Remo. I loved your journal entry “Blatant Generalities.” I could apply your description of French cooking to my dining experiences in Europe. I have had some wonderfully prepared meals on my trips to Europe, two biking trips and one sight seeing trip. I have also been served unidentifiable fare that brought back my worst memories of high school cafeteria food. One time on an organized ride in Bormio, Italy my brother and I were served this horrible black pasta. We were served this “treat” after riding the Ofenpass in Switzerland followed by the 48 switchbacks of the Stelvio. We took two bites of this wretched fare and returned to our hotel restaurant hoping for something more edible. When the waiter handed us menus without prices our next thought was that we were in for the most expensive meal of our lives. We lucked out and got a nice 4 course dinner for ~20 euros. The next day’s ride was equally strenuous, going over the Gavia, Tonale and Carlomagno passes. I wish you and your teammates the best this season. Your journal entries are great. It’s like getting a behind the scenes glimpse at life in the pro peloton.
