A little bit about the tour selection and what’s ahead.  During the Tour I’ll be writing a daily over on Velonews but will add links to each post here on missingsaddle as well.   Thanks to everybody for the calls, emails, texts, and comment posts of support! Been an exciting day for sure.

The boss, and the TOUR!

So hot right now. He is, however, forgiven for pulling those shorts up so high because he just shared with me the final roster for the Tour de France, with my name on the list! It’s been a season, and career, goal to be a part of this squad’s tour team, and the dream is now going to be a reality. Pretty damn exciting. We’ve got a great squad headed up to Brest in a week’s time and I can’t wait to be there for them in the three weeks to follow. Now for a bit of bubbly!

2 weekends, 2 wins

What a way to christen the new Garmin-Chipotle cycling team! Dan rode like a champ this weekend and today was a fantastic whole team effort to secure the win. After last weekend’s crazy time-bonus snagged victory this one had a very decisive feel, and is the first victory in what will surely be an amazing career ahead for Mr Martin.
A little bubbly on the bus poured by Lionel, our director here at Route du Sud, capped things off and we’re already all off our separate ways. Back to Girona for me - a quick drive that should have us back by dinner time. Vamos!

Talking about the fixed schedules we cyclists live by:)

Off to Route de Sud in a few minutes and it looks like a BRUTAL edition this year.  3 long, hilly road stages plus a 17k uphill TT.  A really, really good test of where things are right now.

And keep eyes peeled today for some big news… That’s all I can say there.

New Toys

The numbers shown don’t mean much, a nice recovery cruise on the coast, but the blank spot at the top that says “power” - on a Garmin…uhuh…slick. It’s the new 705 from Garmin that integrates the powertap features, all wirelessly. So one computer on the bars does Everything. You can customize all the views, show just about everything you can imagine wherever you want, and then download it all in one pop. Gad damn. Not to write a full on sponsor plug here, but as a bike geek this is a pretty damn cool toy, err, tool. Go Garmin go. In a big, big, big sorta way.
